If you regularly work with SOLIDWORKS, you know that it can be very time-consuming to add nuts and bolts in your SOLIDWORKS assemblies…
But did you know that there is a “Smart Fasteners” tool in SOLIDWORKS with which you can automatically add (the correct) bolts and nuts in just a few clicks? When I found out about this feature, I wish I had known this 10 years earlier. That would have saved me a lot of time… That’s why I recorded a new video for you.
In this video, I’m going to show you how to model some metal parts in SOLIDWORKS. You will also learn how to add holes into your model using the Hole Wizard. This is crucial for the next step: adding bolts and nuts within a few clicks! 🙂
The Hole Wizard can be found in the Part mode under Insert > Feature > Hole Wizard
The Smart Fasteners feature can be found in the Assembly mode under Insert > Smart FastenersÂ

Most SOLIDWORKS users stay stuck because they learn features instead of learning how to build real products.
In this free SOLIDWORKS Masterclass, I’ll show you the step-by-step approach I use to model complex, portfolio-worthy products — from the first sketch to the final details.
You’ll see how products like Formula 1 cars, yachts, aircraft, motorcycles, and sports cars can be broken down into simple modeling stages using a clear workflow.
